Get the terms before the payment screen.
Before buying a laser hair-removal package, ask for written terms covering the treatment area, included visits, expiration, cancellations, unused sessions, maintenance, and changes to your provider or treatment plan. Keep the agreement with the quote. A discounted per-visit price tells you little about what happens when your schedule or candidacy changes.
Start with the package you are actually buying.
A headline says “six sessions.” The payment page says “membership.” The consultation mentions touch-ups, but the agreement says nothing about them. Resolve those differences before you pay.
Ask for the exact name of the package, the treatment area’s boundaries, the number of included appointments, and any charges outside that total. If the package covers more than one area, ask whether each area has its own visit count or shares an allowance.
This article focuses on the commitment. For comparing the quote itself, use our Indianapolis laser pricing comparison. Keep price and contract terms in separate columns so a low number does not conceal an unusable schedule.
Ask when the clock starts.
Does the package expire from the purchase date, the consultation, or the first treatment? What happens if the provider postpones a session or your suitability needs reassessment? Ask for the answer in writing, including whether a pause extends the expiration date.
Take out your calendar. Mark known travel, shifts, childcare constraints, and days you cannot attend. Ask which appointment times are normally available for package clients. “We have evening hours” may still leave you unable to book the evening you need.
Do not compress the treatment schedule to fit an expiration date. Have the treating professional explain the appropriate appointment rhythm. If that rhythm and your calendar cannot fit the package, ask about a different purchasing arrangement.
Use this written-terms worksheet.
| Term | Answer to record |
|---|---|
| Included area and visits | Exact boundaries, visit count, and any exclusions |
| Expiration and pauses | Start date, end date, and postponement process |
| Cancellations | Notice required, fee, and whether a visit is deducted |
| Unused sessions | Refund or credit policy; who decides and how to request it |
| Maintenance | Whether included, limits, and later pricing |
| Provider changes | What happens if the operator, device, or location changes |
These are questions to resolve, not claims about your legal rights or any business’s policy. The answer can differ by provider and agreement. Leave an unanswered cell marked “unconfirmed” rather than assuming the most favorable outcome.
Clarify what happens if treatment stops.
Ask how a candidacy change or unexpected skin response affects unused sessions. Who reviews the situation? What documentation is needed? Is there a refund, a credit, a pause, or another policy? A staff member’s informal reassurance can be difficult to reconstruct later.
Also ask about a provider leaving, an appointment location closing, or the device changing. You are comparing a repeated service, so the continuity of the plan matters. Ask whether you can reassess before continuing with a different operator.
The AAD recommends a consultation before laser hair removal. Keep the treatment assessment ahead of the purchase decision. A package’s value depends on whether it fits the plan recommended for you.
Separate a payment plan from the service plan.
If payments are spread over time, ask who collects them, whether the arrangement has additional fees, and where its full terms can be read. Do not assume that stopping appointments automatically stops payments. Ask the provider to explain the connection between the two agreements before signing.
Save the quote, package terms, payment terms, and any written clarification in one folder. Record the business name, date, and person who answered. If you are told that a term will be changed for you, request the updated document.
If an answer stays vague, pause the purchase. A consultation, a single appointment where suitable, or more comparison time may be easier to assess than a commitment you cannot yet explain.
